The Education Ministry said it has come to their attention that disinformation attributed to the Ministry of Education and the Department of Examinations has been circulated on social media platforms.
The Ministry said that disinformation circulating on social media claims that the structure of this year's G.C.E. Ordinary Level Science examination paper has been altered from the approved curriculum.
Furthermore, it falsely states that as a compensatory measure, all candidates who sat for the Science paper will receive an additional eight (08) marks, the grade boundaries will be lowered by ten (10) marks, and a Distinction will be awarded to any student scoring more than sixty-five (65) marks.
These claims are entirely false. Such announcement has not been issued by any official government body and no such decision has been taken by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, or the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka.
Any official statement or press release from the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, or the Department of Examinations is communicated solely through reputed media institutions and official government websites and all such announcements are issued only after thorough verification by the Media division of the Ministry of Education under the official letterhead of the relevant authority and bear the signature of an authorized official.
In light of the above, the general public is kindly advised to disregard such disinformation being circulated on social media and to refrain from being misled by unofficial sources.
