The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) says that following a study of public feedback, the final decision regarding the revision of the electricity rates would be made public on July 15.
According to PUCSL Chairman Prof. Manjula Fernando, opinions were gathered from 46 pre-registered delegates from a range of industries.
The PUCSL has also received recommendations about the revision of electricity tariff from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
The proposals state that there will be a 13.8% overall reduction in tariffs.
Accordingly, domestic rates will drop by 25.5%, while rates for charity and religious organizations would drop by 3%.
However, rate reductions for the hotel and industrial sectors are not part of the proposals.
