The Sri Lanka Navy seized an Indian fishing boat and took 11 Indian fishermen into custody while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters today.
The Navy says they had boarded the boat during a special operation conducted in the northern sea area, off the Delft Island in early hours.
The Northern Naval Command had spotted a group of Indian fishing boats engaging in illegal fishing, trespassing into Sri Lankan waters yesterday night. Thereafter the Northern Naval Command deployed a vessel to drive away the fishing boats from island waters, off the Delft Island.
The seized boat and Indian fishermen were brought to the Kankasanthurei Harbour and were scheduled to be handed over to the Fisheries Inspector of Mailadi for legal proceedings.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
