Police have commenced investigations to identify and arrest suspects who had murdered an employee of a private medical centre during a robbery yesterday (27).
Police Media Unit said officers had responded to a call made via the 119 hotline that the body of an individual was lying at a medical centre in Thihariya, Nittambuwa.
Officers who responded found the man lying dead with severe injuries inside the medical centre. He has been identified as a 59-year-old resident of Pingollawatta, Nittambuwa.
The deceased was an employee of the same medical centre and had also been staying at the facility during the night. Police said suspected thieves who had broken into the building had allegedly stolen the DVR Unit of the medical centre's CCTV system as well as Rs. 7000 in cash. Police believe that the employee was killed during the robbery.
The magisterial inquiry has been held and the remains are currently lying at the Wathupitiwala Hospital pending a post-mortem inquriy. Nittambuwa Police are investigating.
