A former member of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) personnel was sentenced to death for fatally shooting two fellow soldiers at Parappukandal army camp in Mannar on October 2, 2009 by the Mannar High Court yesterday.
While delivering the judgement, Mannar High Court Judge M.M.M. Mihal observed that, after a personal argument, the convicted former army member allegedly opened fire on three other soldiers at the Parappukandal camp, killing two and wounding the other.
The case was brought by Mannar’s Murunkan Police, and the verdict was delivered 14 years after the murders. The convict is a 55-year-old who was suspended from the SLA following the incident.
