Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Hambantota districts, the Meteorology Department forecast today.
Several places elsewhere too would experience showers or thundershowers during afternoon or night, Meteorologists at the Department said.
They said that fairly heavy showers above 75mm are expected at some places in Northern, Eastern,Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Uva provinces and in Galle, Matara, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts.
The Department warned that fairly strong winds of (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, Eastern and North-western provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Monaragala and Hambantota districts and asked residents to be cautious.
