At least fifteen Indian nationals were deported back to India for violating visa regulations including engaging in religious preaching on tourist visas on Saturday, airport authorities said.
Among them, two were religious preachers who were allegedly involved in preaching near the Mathagal area in Jaffna and were arrested by police. Following investigations, both of them were deported from Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo.
The rest (13) of them who were engaged in working in shops and sculpture work in local workshops were deported through Jaffna International Aiport on Saturday.
