Five persons mingling among pilgrims visiting the Thalawila shrine ahead of the annual feast were arrested on suspicion, Police said.
Police say that they s were detained last night (01) while they were among pilgrims.
The arrested persons were identified as residents of the Mannar area, aged between 22 and 24 years.
The reason for their visit to the Shrine is yet unknown.
They were due to be produced in courts.
A large number of pilgrims have already started gathering and camping in the area ahead of the Sunday's festive mass.
