A five percent cut of the estimated annual expenditure for each of the Ministries has been approved by the Cabinet, Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.
Minister Gunawardena said that the decision was taken on the instructions of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Minister said that in view of the adverse economic situation there may be delays in making Samurdhi and other payments.
“Even if there is a delay the government will keep to its commitments in paying Samurdhi and other allowances", Minister Gunawardena told the post Cabinet news conference.
