Disaster Management Centre has issued a warning on likely floods within the next few hours in low-lying areas of Maha Oya indicating Alawwa, Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negombo, Katana, Narammala and Dankotuwa Divisional Secretariats.
According to the warning issued by the Irrigation Department for Maha Oya River Basin at 10.00 p.m. yesterday (Nov 08), the water levels of river upstream areas were increased.
The water level at Giriulla River Gauging Station has risen up to 8.94 m, the Irrigation Department said.
Accordingly, residents and drivers passing through aforesaid areas are requested to be vigilant.
