Four persons - two army sergeants and two Air Force sergeants were arrested over the death of an inmate at Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center.
The police said that the four persons had worked at the rehabilitation center as Assistant Instructors have beaten the suspect.
They claimed they believe that a thick electric wire and two bamboo pieces were used to assault the inmate.
Police elaborated that the suspects were arrested on Friday and were produced before Polonnaruwa Magistrate courts on Saturday.
Accordingly the suspects were identified as two Air force sergeants aged 35 and 36 respectively from Kottapitiya and Nawalapitiya areas as well as two army sergeants aged 37 and 39 from Hurigaswewa and Galnewa areas.
The police said that the post mortem examination will be held on Tuesday.
