Fuel distributors will hold a meeting this afternoon with their lawyers to decide whether to continue or conclude the ongoing protest action of halting fuel orders from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Kusum Sandanayake, Vice President of the Fuel Distributors
Association (FDA) told Times Online.
Mr. Sandanayake said they could not conclude their gathering today to submit a memorandum to the President's Secretary as was announced earlier.
Nearly 450 distributors arrived to hand over the memorandum. However, the Presidential Secretariat had assured us that they will consider this and arrange a date to discuss the matter with the President.
Additionally, the CPC has scheduled a meeting with representatives of the distributors association for tomorrow (March 4).
“Taking all these factors into account, we will announce our decision around 4:00 p.m. today after meeting with our lawyers,” he said.
According to Mr. Sandanayake, some fuel orders were processed today from the CPC to the distributors. However, he complained that the CPC had sent orders directly to fuel stations without prior requests.
When Times Online inquired about the CID investigation against the FDA, the Vice President stated that they had also heard about it but had not yet received any official written notice.
