The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) called off the strike, that was planned to be launched at 8 am tomorrow (24), following the withdrawal of the circular by the government, relating to the increment of the Disturbance, Availability and Transport (DAT) DAT allowance, GMOA said in a statement.
Earlier, the government had recently increased the DAT allowance for doctors by Rs. 35, 000 after Cabinet approved a proposal to this effect submitted by President and Finance Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Later, the Health Ministry however, stated that the Rs. 35, 000 increase has been suspended as the Treasury has not released the funds to enable the payment of the increase in DAT allowance.
