The validity period of driving licenses due to expire within the period commencing from April 1 and ending September 30 this year (as specified in the driving license) has been extended for six (6) months from the date of such expiry.
An extraordinary gazette in this regard, Motor Traffic (Temporary Extension of the Validity Period of Driving License) Regulations No. 1 of 2021 was issued by the Minister of Transport Gamini Lokuge.
However, these regulations will not apply to a driving license of which the validity period has already been extended by the Motor Traffic (Temporary Extension of the Validity Period of Driving License) Regulations No. 03 of 2020.
