President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed Ven. Galagodaatthe Gnanasara Thera as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force for One Country, One Law.
Issuing an extraordinary gazette on Tuesday (26), the President instructed the Task Force to study the implementation of the concept; One Country, One Law within Sri Lanka and propose any amendments, if any, to the draft Act.
Members of the Task Force include Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera (Chairman), Professor Dayananda Banda, Professor Shanthinandana Wijesinghe, Professor Sumedha Siriwardana, N.G. Sujeewa Panditharathna, Iresh Senevirathne Attorney-at-Law, Sanjaya Marambe Attorney-at-Law, Eranda Navarathna, Pani Wewala, Moulavi Mohomad, Ulama Council, Galle, Mohomad Inthikab-lecturer, Kaleel Rahuman and Azeez Nizardeen.
Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Jeevanthie Senanayake has been appointed as the Secretary of the Presidential Task Force.
The Task Force is to study the draft Acts and amendments that have already been prepared by the Ministry of Justice in relation to this subject and their appropriateness and if there are suitable amendments to submit proposals to the draft Act.
The President directed all public officers and other persons to comply with instructions, render all such assistance and furnish all information required by the Task Force.
The President in the gazette directed the Task Force to report to him if any Government employee or an officer in any ministry, government department, state corporation or any such institution delay or fail to fulfil any responsibilities or duties entrusted by the Presidential Task Force.
“Furthermore, I do hereby direct you, members of the aforesaid force, to submit reports to me at least once a month and submit the final report on or before 28th February, 2022,” President Rajapaksa ordered in the gazette.
