An individual was arrested at the Nallur Festival yesterday for a theft of Gold jewelry.
The theft was carried out by an organised group of individuals who took to their advantage of the large crowd that was gathered.
Acting immediately, the police took into custody a member of the group along with some stolen valuables.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
