The Government will issue a fresh gazette notification imposing stricter curbs on events such as weddings, funerals and trips in two weeks if it deems the public is not cooperating enough to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the country, State Minister of COVID Disease Control Dr Sudarshini Fernandopulle told Times Online.
Minister Fernandopulle said they had planned to issue a gazette this week, but had opted to hold off on it for some time to see if the situation improves.
If the number of COVID-19 infections continues to rise however, she said there would be no option but to impose stricter controls.
