There is a strong need to resolve issues related to the reconciliation process, President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake said.
Addressing civil society organizations on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the Presidential Secretariat, he said if this effort is successful, there will no need for the country to go to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on this issue.
Mr.Ekanayake said President Wickremesinghe’s goal is not to pass the task of reconciliation in Sri Lanka to the next generation, but to solve it now.
At the meeting, views and suggestions were obtained from civil society representatives on the truth and reconciliation mechanism.
