The Cabinet which met yesterday decided to discuss with all the Mahanayaka Theras in order to come to an agreement on the academic and administrative affairs of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, the President's Media Division (PMD) said.
Accordingly, the university will remain closed until these discussions are held and such an agreement is reached, the PMD added.
The Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka was closed until further notice with effect from yesterday (19) following several serious incidents of indiscipline and ragging.
Last Friday (16), the Homagama Magistrate's Court remanded Ven. Talawe Dhammika Thera, the Secretary of the Buddhist and Pali University's student union till December 27 after he was arrested by the Homagama police on allegations of ragging and produced in court.
