Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi yesterday called for more stringent implementation of the law to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Speaking during the opening of the new catheterization laboratory at the Kalutara Nagoda Hospital, Minister Wanniarachchi said controling the third wave of COVID-19 should not be difficult if people adhered to quarantine laws and health guidelines.
"The Health Ministry and the police need to strictly enforce the law against those who violate health guidelines. If necessary, we aim to increase the current Rs 5000 fine for such violations to Rs 50, 000 via a gazette notification to get it done," she claimed.
