Despite repeated appeals by the government and health authorities for people to avoid going out unless absolutely necessariy and to follow health guidelines and maintain social distancing if they do have to travel, some members of the public continue to ignore these appeals at their peril.
Appeals have also been made for people to avoid crowded places since the coronavirus spreads easily among people at such locations.
These photographs were captured this morning at the Chilaw Fish Market, where scores thronged to buy and sell fish ignoring almost all health guidelines.
