Very heavy rains (about 150 mm) are forecasted in Northern, North-central, North-western and Eastern provinces.
The Meteorology Department said the present atmospheric depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal will reach the East coast of the country today (01) morning.
“Cloudy sky will prevail over most parts of the island and showers or thundershowers will occur at times. Strong winds about (50-60) kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-central, Eastern, North-western and Central provinces and strong winds about (40-50) kmph can be expected elsewhere,” the Met. Dept. said.
General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
