A husband and wife duo have been arrested with a stock of 'Ice' drugs, a T-56 assault rifle and 113 lives rounds of T-56 ammunition.
Police Media Unit stated officers from the Wattala Police had initially responded last morning (1) to reports that a woman had hanged herself at a lodge in Wattala. Upon arriving at the location however, they had observed a woman unconcious in the bathroom of a room at the lodge and had been able to revive her. She was however, arrested after officers found 6.1 grams of 'Ice' in her possession.
The arrested female suspect is a 35-year-old resident of Colombo 15. Further interrogation of the female suspect revealed that she maintained a close relationship with an overseas based drug trafficker and that he had entrusted her with the care of a T-56 assault rifle and 113 rounds of T-56 ammunition. Upon her guidence, officers raided a house in Heenkenda, Ragama. Police found the weapon and the bullets hidden in the house and arrested the 40-year-old husband of the female suspect at the location.
