The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mumbai arrived at the port of Colombo yesterday morning (26) for a formal visit and was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy with traditional naval honors.
INS Mumbai is a 163-meter-long Destroyer, crewed by 410 personnel and commanded by Captain Sandeep Kumar. During the visit, Captain Kumar met with Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, Commander of the Western Naval Area, at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.
While in Colombo, the crew will explore some of the country's tourist attractions. Additionally, Sri Lanka Navy personnel will receive a briefing on the operational functions of INS Mumbai aboard the ship.
Upon departure on 29th August, INS Mumbai will participate in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with a Sri Lanka Navy vessel off the coast of Colombo.
