Disappointed farmers have dumped about a thousand kilos of organic cabbage to the Daluwa, Kasa Kelle beach after their produce were rejected by traders.
Farmers complained that due to the unavailability of chemical pesticide, the cabbage cultivation had come under pest attacks and also the produce, being organic, was smaller in size.
“Traders are rejecting small cabbage and pest-eaten ones,” lamented Cyril Fernando, a farmer who had all his cabbage rejected at the economic centre.
