The teams of wildlife officers have located the tusker which was injured after being hit by a lorry in the Galapitagala area on the Habarana-Maradankadawala road.
One of its tusks was broken in the accident following back the animal went missing.
The officers of the Department of Wildlife Conservation had located the animal sleeping near a tank Labunoruwa area of the Thirappane Divisional Secretariat today morning.
Wildlife officials have now confirmed that the elephant is with a group elephants.
The Department veterinary surgeon Chandana Jayasinghe and his veterinary team are attempting to treat the animal.
