The ‘Agrahara’ insurance scheme for pensioners has been temporarily suspended, a senior official of the Department of Pensions said.
The suspension comes following a circular issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration.
The provisions of Circular 12/2005 (VIII) will be suspended pending discussions as there have been some objections raised against the proposed insurance scheme.
Rs. 600 was to be deducted from the pension of retired public sector employees above 70 years of age and Rs. 400 from public servants below 70 years.
The circular can be viewed on the Public Administration Ministry’s official website. https://www.pubad.gov.lk/web/images/circulars/2021/E/1636454520-12-2005-ix-e.pdf
