Jathika Jana Balawegaya (formerly JVP) will not extend its support to an all-party interim government coming under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
MP Vijitha Herath told Times Online that their party remains in the position that President Rajapaksa should resign.
“We want the President to resign and the Speaker to temporarily take over the position until an election is held within three months’ time. We will continue with protests until President Rajapaksa leaves,” he said.
Meanwhile, talks regarding the all-party interim government have come to a halt due to the present unrest in the country, MP Mahinda Amaraweera said.
He said talks between independent government MPs in Parliament and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya has been postponed due to the present situation.
