The bodies of 32 persons confirmed to have died from COVID-19 have arrived at the Judicial Medical Officer's (JMO) unit at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital over the past four days.
Statistics from the JMO unit noted that 19 of the victims had died at home while 13 had died while receiving hospital treatment.
Of the deaths recorded over the past four days, 12 deaths were reported on August 13, with eight of the deceased dying at home. Eight deaths were reported on August 14, with seven of those being at home. Five deaths were confirmed on August 15, with two of these being home deaths. Six deaths were recorded yesterday, with five of those being patients undergoing treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital. An individual who died at home in Yakkalamulla yesterday was also found have succumbed to COVID-19.
