The Divisional Secretary of Kiriella was arrested by the divisional Women and Children’s Bureau of Ratnapura in connection with sexual harassment, Police said.
“The Divisional Secretary was arrested following a complaint made by the regional child protection officer of the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) attached to the Kiriella Divisional Secretariat. The suspect was arrested and produced before the Magistrate Courts, Ratnapura and granted a personal bail of Rs.200,000. The case will be taken up on March 11,” said Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana.
He said the divisional Women and Children’s Bureau of Ratnapura is conducting further investigation.
