Three persons including two children have died and another injured when their house was buried in an earth slip in Rambukkana-Dombemada, police said.
A 35-year-old mother, her eight-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old girl, who was a relative, were victims of this disaster while their father has been admitted to District Hospital, Rambukkana.
The three deaths increase the bad weather-triggered death toll to five.
A 23-year-old woman has died from a wall collapse in Alawwa while another person has died of drowning in Ambanganga area in Matale, the Disaster Management Centre said.
According to the DMC heavy rains, floods and landslides have affected over 7000 persons from 1,836 families. Majority of the affected are from Galle, Jaffna and Mannar districts. Close to 100 houses have been damaged and over 200 persons have been moved to safe locations.
