Large crowds at Anuradhapura for Poson

Large crowds gathered at Anradhapura District to engage at religious observances while celebrating the poson festival today. 

While the state poson festival is held at Mihintale in the Anuradhpura district there were many religious events held island wide.

The police media spokesman Nihal Thalduwa said that they have made a special security arrangement to ensure the safety of the people who gather at Anuradhapura town.

In Colombo and suburban areas there were poson decorations such as lanterns hoisted as well as pandals erected.

In parallel to the Dharma Rashmi Poson zone in Homagama area, the Sugatha Bimbarama temple has organized to exhibit neelagiri sacred relics. The sacred relics were paraded from the Archeology Department to the Sugatha   Bimbarama temple at Homagama.

There were also poson dansels set up at many areas which offer people food, beverages as well as snacks. There were also arts and crafts set up illustrating the meeting between Mahinda thera and Devanampiya thissa which lead to Budhisam being introduced to the country.
