A 39-year-old person from Nattandiya has been arrested for cheating on persons by fraudulently collecting money after promising to sell electronic items and musical instruments, police said.
The person was arrested while hiding in the Weligama area.
He had allegedly opened bank accounts and directed persons Interested in buying Items to deposit money in the account.
After the deposits were made he had withdrawn the money and closed the accounts.
He also had in his possession six national identity cards which had been used to create bank accounts.
Police has requested persons who have fallen victim to contact the CID.
