A 44-year-old person was yesterday remanded by Dambulla Magistrate’s Court for dashing a four-and-a-half-year-old child on the ground when he came to buy a bun from a mobile bakery product vendor.
The suspect was ordered to be remanded till January 09 by Dambulla Magistrate Chamila Kumari Ratnayake.
The suspect was identified as W.M.P. Ajith Waranasuriya, also known as Samantha, a resident of the Kandalama neighbourhood of Dambulla.
According to the police, was living at home in Kandalama with his mother, father, and grandfather.
The child was reprimanded and hit on the ground by the perpetrator, who was intoxicated at the time, according to the police's report to the court.
The child was injured in the incident.
