The Metrology Department issuing an advisory today warned the general public of heavy rains in several areas of the country.
According to their advisory Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern Province and in Anuradhapura and Puttalam districts. Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in these areas.
General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
