A minor tremor was reported last night (September 25) around 11:20 p.m. at Buttala, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) said.
According to the Director of GSMB, the tremor had a magnitude of 2.4 on the Richter Scale.
Seismic meters placed in Mahakanadarawa, Hakmana, Pallekele, and Buddhangala have recorded the quake which has occurred in an area at a depth of one kilometer beneath the surface.
Despite that, no reports of damage have been received so far owing to this minor tremor.
