A fatal shooting in Midigama, Matara, has claimed one life and left two others injured, according to the police.
Two unidentified assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene.
In a separate incident, another shooting occurred last night (18) at a shop on Saranankara Road, in the Kohuwala area.
The shop owner, a 43-year-old resident of Nedimala, Dehiwala, was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to Kalubowila Hospital.
Both shootings were reportedly carried out by unidentified gunmen on motorcycles.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind these attacks, and no information regarding the suspects has been uncovered yet.
Meanwhile, police have also confirmed that a 32-year-old man was found dead from gunshot wounds in Tangalle last night. The body was discovered in a coconut estate.
