While expressing his displeasure over the crisis that has arisen over the government’s new social welfare programme Aswesuma, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa called for proper research to determine who is most eligible.
”The research carried out to determine eligible recipients has caused great injustice to those who are already receiving Samurdhi. I am committed to help the Samurdhi recipients who have been subjected to injustice,” he said.
“Aswesuma should provide relief to the poor and should not become a problem,” he added.
“I request the government not to give in to political affiliations when dealing with the Aswesuma issue but to look at the issue through a humanitarian perspective,” he also said
