President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed Ajith Nivard Cabraal as the 12th Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), President Media Division Said. Mr Cabral will assume duties on Wednesday (September 15).
Earlier, Mr Cabral who held the State Minister post handed over his letter of resignation as National List MP. The letter was handed over to the Secretary-General of Parliament.
Soon after resigned from the National list post, Mr Cabral said in other countries including China the post of Governor is highly recognized and he expects that his post too will be given cabinet status.
