Political gatherings, rallies and musical shows will not be allowed at Galle Face Green from April 20.
The Cabinet of Ministers has unanimously decided to give permission only for religious observances and not above events.
The Ports Authority is currently in charge of development and maintenance of the Galle Face Green under their CSR project. A total of Rs. 220 million has been allocated for this purpose. The Cabinet paper stated that Rs. 6.6 million had to be spent for restoration due damages caused during last year’s aragalaya period.
From April 20 onwards Galle Face Green will be exclusively for the public to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty and sunsets.
