The Northeast monsoon condition is gradually establishing over the island, the Meteorological Department said today.
Accordingly, showers will occur at times in Northern, Eastern, Uva andNorth-Central provinces, while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
The Meteorological Department requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers
