Cabinet has approved a proposal to grant 219.233 hectares of land in Siyambalanduwa to the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority for the implementation of a 100MW solar power project.
The proposal to Cabinet was presented by the Minister of Power and Energy in keeping with the Government goal of fulfilling 70% of electricity demand of the country from renewable power sources by the year 2030.
The land will be given to the Authority as a grant taking into consideration the strategic importance of the proposed project,enabling its swift commencement.
