Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed Foreign Minister Prof. G.L.Peiris to discuss with the Italian government on the possibility of keeping the existing Italian 20-year-service pension scheme active even if the beneficiary returns to Sri Lanka for good.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the instruction was given following a meeting with the Sri Lankan community in Italy on Tuesday (14). The PM, who is in Italy to join the G20 Interfaith Forum, is scheduled to attend several diplomatic meetings today (15).
