Pahala Kadgugannwa road closure to remain

The closure of the Kandy – Colombo road at Pahala Kadugannwa will be continued as the threat of possible landslides continues, officials said.

The Road Development Authority met with the District Secretariat officials of Kegalle following an inspection visit in the area and decided that the road should remain closed.

Measures were being taken to pump out the water from the area by inserting pipes into the area.

The road was closed last Wednesday (10).

The alternative roads announced by the RDA are as follows;

Alternative routes from Kandy to Colombo:

• From Katugastota-Galagedara to Kurunegala to proceed to Colombo
• From Katugastota-Galagedara-Rambukkana to proceed to Colombo

Alternative routes from Colombo to Kandy:

• From Ambepussa to Kurunegala, and to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
• From Kegalle to Polgahawela to Kurunegala to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
• From Mawanella to Rambukkana to Hatharaliyadda to use the Galagedara-Katugastota route to Kandy
• From Mawanella to Hemmathagama to use the Gampola-Preadeniya route to Kandy
