The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today (27) ordered to further remand Pastor Jerome Fernando till January 03, 2024.
The order was given when Pastor Fernando appeared before courts this morning. Pastor Fernando was arrested by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) on December 1 under the International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act for his controversial remarks on Buddhism, allegedly inciting hate among religious communities in the country.
He made his first appearance at the CID on November 30, providing a statement for approcximately eight hours.
Last week, the Colombo High Court announced that the bail application submitted by him will be taken up for consideration on January 04, 2024.
