The Oddusuddan Wildlife Officials stated that a post-mortem was performed yesterday on the elephant that was electrocuted in Pudukuduirippu Mannan Kandal, Mullaitivu.
It was revealed to wildlife officials that the elephant had attempted to enter a private property, where unauthorized electric cables had been laid.
The post-mortem was conducted by a group of officials including the Northern Province Wildlife Veterinarian Mr. B. Giridharan.
A 30-year-old male wild elephant with a height of 9.6 feet was the victim.
Meanwhile, wildlife officials have reported the owner of the property to the Oddusudan Police, and steps are being taken to arrest those responsible.
