The Police have decided to utilize the CCTV cameras set up in Colombo city areas, to take action against traffic offenders.
The Acting Inspector General of Police, Deshabandu Tennakoon said that the police have planned to fully utilize the CCTV camara system to detect traffic offences as the systems are currently heavily undeutlized.
The Acting IGP added that the police survey had given an insight that more offences can be detected via CCTV system as 300 percent increase of offences can be detected by CCTV compared to the detections made by a police officer stationed at the same location.
