As many of 12 proposals including plans to purchase power from the private sector has been placed before the cabinet for consideration.
Power and Energy Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told the Sunday Times that the power supplies are needed to meet shortages due to drought conditions, as well as meet the increased demand within the year.
