Power restored at Badulla Teaching Hospital

News

The Teaching Hospital in Badulla has paid up Rs. 20 million of its Rs. 70 million electricity bill bringing about restoration of power supply to a few sections.

The power supply was disrupted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to the nurses’ training center, doctors’ quarters and the nurses’ hostel on Thursday morning (August 10) as a result of default in payment.

Even so, the hospital’s administration has notified the CEB that the balance due would be settled within one week.

The Doctors and rest of the hospital’s staff members were in dire straits owing to inattentive supervision likewise of the hospital’s administration exclaimed Dr. Palitha Rajapaksha, the Uva Province Coordinator of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA).

Simultaneously, failure of the hospital’s rest of payments including its water tariffs totaling Rs. 9.8 million has been disclosed by JVP’s former Uva Provincial Council member Samantha Vidyaratne.
