President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who is currently in New York to attend the 76th UN General Assembly (UNGA) Session met United Nations Secretary- General António Guterres today and briefed on domestic issues, including the reconciliation process the country has taken.
The Secretary-General offered the UN’s support in this regard and reiterated the UN’s view on the importance of ensuring the protection of minority rights and civic engagement, according to the statement issued from the UN- Secretary-General office said.
The Secretary-General expressed solidarity with Sri Lanka for ongoing challenges related to COVID-19.
